“I was known to some people for going off to
the States, I’d been there in ‘77 and ‘78, and had a relationship with
someone over there, but being young, had sex with quite a lot of women
over there, that was what you did, but I stayed connected with some of
them so would go back to the states so I became known to some people as
‘the woman who went off to the States’, even though there was a 12 or
14 year gap. Some people, if they’ve not seen you for a while ‘That’s
Caroline – she goes off to the States’ (whispers) - I haven’t done it
for a very long time”.
